Auf drei Projektionen ist ein Endlos-Ablauf in drei Varianten zu sehen: Das Öffnen und wieder Schließen einer 10-teiligen Matroschka (russische Holzpuppe). Von oben kommen Hände ins Bild, geben ein Puppenteil hinzu, oder nehmen eins heraus.

Das Innere und den Rand jedes Puppenteils habe ich rot, schwarz oder weiß bemalt. Diese drei Farben spielen in vielen Kulturen und Religionen eine mythische Rolle. Der Text, von einer weiblichen Stimme gesprochen, deutet elementare Dinge, Gefühle und Situationen an, die uns allen begegnen können.

Die symmetrischen Handbewegungen, die leuchtenden Farben und die Anordnung der Puppenteile haben rituellen Charakter, ebenso die Stimme, deren Sätze stets mit “white”, “red” oder “black” beginnen. MULTIPLE MADONNA und die Matroschka selbst erinnern an einst bedeutsame Mutter-Tochter-Genealogien und an die Mythen der vielfachen Göttin.

Dennoch wirkt die Zeremonie nicht nur ernst, sondern auch merkwürdig und leicht. Sie stellt sich selbst dar, ohne Zweck ausserhalb ihrer selbst. So spielen Kinder: sie nehmen sich und ihr Tun ernst und wissen doch, dass alles auch ganz anders sein könnte.

On each screen of the installation the same process is shown - in three variations: a russian matryoshka, consisting of 10 puppets one in another, is reveald and put back again.

I have painted the inside of the puppets in red, black and white. In many cultures and religions, the combination of white, red and black had mythic meanings. The text, spoken by a female voice, names elementary things, situations and feelings that may happen to all of us.

The regular movement of the hands, the hardedged bright colours and the geometrical order, as well as the spoken sentences give the process a ritual character. MULTIPLE MADONNA and the matryoshka herself are a reminder of the myths of the multiple godess and the generations following her female descendants.

Nevertheless the "ceremony" does not look only serious, but also curious and easy. That´s the way children play: They take serious what they do and yet know, that everything could be quite different.
